Drywall is UP!

Hi everyone, and a big thank you to those that checked up on my projects during my last couple non-posting weeks.  It has been hard to find time to work on Sydney's Room since the girls came back from grandmas.  You know, taking care of the girls, cleaning the house, back-to-school shopping, allergy season, mountain of back-to-school forms to fill out, and uh, Frontierville.  You get the picture.

I changed my mind about the order of things a bit.  I decided to finish up all the non-bed framing, drywall, and painting.  I decided I didn't want to try to re-stretch and re-tack carpet under a 15" high platform and then try to suck out all the drywall dust.

The drywall is all up!
I did manage to get a little bit done here and there over the past few weeks, but not enough to bother posting about.  During this in between, I managed to complete the non-bed framing and hang a few pieces of drywall.  Unlike building a house or a room, this project required a ton of itty-bitty pieces of drywall.  If I never have to rip another piece of drywall 3.5" wide, I probably won't cry. ;)
Chalkboard on this side, shelf space for me on the other!

I did claim today as my own after a few weekends of pure busy.  A big checkmark for me in finishing hanging drywall!  Yay me!

There is a picture here of where Sydney's chalkboard will be.  I bought a can of chalkboard paint.  What you probably didn't pick up on is there is now a 40"w x 20"d x 48"h cavity behind it.  The bedroom on the other side of the wall is Patrick's and mine.  Sometime after I get Sydney's room useable, I will be opening up this cavity to our room, putting in a few shelves, and giving the storage is our room a big "ahhhhh, that's better".  Yes, Sydney's room is the smallest, but she's the only one in our household that has their own room.  She'll just have to share a little of it!

Next up, taping and mudding, repeat as needed.  Then I can paint.  I have two vacation days to use before October 1, so I'm probably going to use at least one and get some work done while the girls are at school.
